What is general music? General music is a class that allows for the exploration of music. We will cover a wide range of topics, including reading and writing music, music history and musical styles. We will also be singing and playing instruments to further our musical knowledge. Each student will work collaboratively with their classmates to reach a mutual understanding and appreciation of music.
What do I need for music class? You will need your agenda, a pencil, folder, paper or notebook for class
How am I graded in music class? Your grade will be based on participation, as well as the completion of homework, projects and tests. No late assignments will be accepted.
Participation- Music is a course based on active participation. This includes being prepared for class, having a positive attitude and being involved in class activities. Participation is 30% of your grade. Homework- Homework will be assigned periodically to reinforce topics from class. Homework is 10% of your grade. Music Folder- Worksheets, handouts, tests and notes should be kept in your music folder. It will be checked regularly for 20% of your grade. Projects- Students will have one at-home project per trimester, worth 20% of the grade. Tests- Students will be given at least one weeks notice for tests which will review topics from class. They are 20% of the grade.
